DR. GLORIA'S REVIEW
Punta Blanca invites you to "listen to the silence," and I invite you to "enjoy the service." Punta Blanca Golf Course is a stand out track. I was most impressed with what I consider to be, world-class "service" and attention to detail. Credit Tomas Mercedes, the Golf Director and gracious host. Tomas has been managing golf courses in the area for many years. He is personable, friendly and eager to make your experience memorable. You will receive a course map that shows you bunkers, waste bunkers and distance to the greens. The condition of the course is excellent and Tomas stated that in peak season, "it is even 30% better." The course was designed by Nick Price who is one of the friendliest guys on PGA and Champions Tour. I felt that the flowers, vegetation and palm trees enhanced my relaxation and enjoyment. You will enjoy the sounds of the tropical bird that fade in and out of the jungle canopy between holes. If you are looking for a site to host a tournament in Dominican, Punta Blanca would be a great choice in the region as its conveniently located just 25 minutes from the airport.
The course was immaculate. There are numerous bunkers and waste bunkers to keep you fully engaged. When you play, you will likely be charged up due to the paradise surroundings. Focus on the motto, " fairways and greens", and you will save strokes. There is a lake on hole #5 and #7 that comes into play near the green. Pick your target and lay up to a good distance to take the water out of play. Holes #13 and #15 are par 3's over sand and vegetation. Again pick the right club and you will make par. Expect to feel like a true VIP through and through because the round, usually $150, at the height of the season, includes rides to and from the club, range balls, snack and drinks from the golf cart (non-alcoholic) and lunch afterwards in the upscale clubhouse. If you stay at Majestic Resorts, you can get an even better deal. For me, Punta Blanca was a great warm-up and introduction to the quality of golf being played in the Dominican.
